Diddy Verdict: Guilt on Prostitution, Acquittals on Trafficking & RICO.
After a seven-week federal trial in Manhattan, the jury delivered a split verdict on July 2, 2025, in the case of Sean "Diddy" Combs. He was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, facing potential life sentences. However, the jury found him guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act—related to his ex-partners, Cassie Ventura and another woman, “Jane”.
The trial included powerful testimonies from 34 witnesses, including Cassie Ventura and another accuser, detailing alleged coercive behavior and drug-fueled sexual encounters. Prosecutors described a multi-decade criminal enterprise fueled by fear, but the jury concluded insufficient evidence existed for the most serious charges. Deliberations spanned 13 hours among 12 jurors before reaching this mixed decision.
Combs faces a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment per Mann Act count (potential 20 years total). His defense has requested bail pending sentencing, while prosecutors have opposed release. Sentencing is forthcoming, leaving uncertainty over potential prison time and bond status.
This verdict spares Combs from the gravest consequences, but the prostitution convictions still mark a significant legal blow in a trial scrutinizing power, consent, and accountability.
