The FIFA World Cup 2022

Qatar hosted the 2022 World Cup, a first for the country and the Middle East. Additionally, this is the first World Cup to be held in the northern hemisphere during the winter. In preparation for the tournament, Qatar spent billions of dollars constructing facilities and modernizing its infrastructure. When Stéphanie Frappart of France refereed a match between Germany and Costa Rica in Qatar in December, she made history by becoming the first female lead referee at a men's World Cup game.

Additionally, a lot of news is emerging that suggests Ronaldo, who resigned from Manchester United by mutual consent, and perhaps ten other players may retire after this World Cup.
